Found the Perfect Job on a Job Board

When I decided to go back to school to get my teaching degree, I knew I was making the right choice. I was born to be a teacher, and I didn’t want anything to stand in my way. It took me nearly six years to get my degree because I had to work at the same time, so receiving that piece of paper was simply amazing. I didn’t even take any time after getting my degree. I wanted to start looking for teaching jobs right away. I went online, figuring I would go to each school in my area to see if they were hiring.

It did not take me long to figure out that my approach was very slow. I knew that there were employment boards out there, so I decided to see if there was one that was devoted just to educators. I was happy when my search gave me a much easier way to search for a job. This education job board had all of the teaching and other educational positions that were open in the area. I was able to pull up details on each one, which was a lot quicker than going to each school’s individual website to find their job postings.

When I saw that there was a vacancy in the upcoming year for a sociology teacher, I got so happy because that is my field. I didn’t even get sad that it is just a temporary position, because the regular teacher was going on maternity leave. I just figured that it would be really good to have that experience, but it turned out to be even better than that. I got the job, but the teacher I was replacing decided to not come back after all. She was not able to leave her child, so I was offered the position full time!
